CEO, Jitegemee Trust LTD.
Jitegemee Trust Ltd (JTL) is a leading wholesale microfinance institution that provides equitable financial and non-financial services to micro finance institutions, Saccos and financial intermediaries that provide financial services to individuals engaged micro enterprises.
JTL was formed in 1998, out of a pilot micro-credit program developing new approaches for the relatively inaccessible and sparsely populated rural areas in Kenya. The pilot started as a component of the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) Development Programs, funded by the Government of the Netherlands, and implemented through the Government of Kenya in the Kajiado, Keiyo, Marakwetand and Liakipia districts.
Today, the Trust is a separate entity, which promotes wealth creation activities and is run by a Board of Trustees drawn from a wide range of professionals in the private sector. As a wholesale microfinance institution, the Trust supports a cross section of microfinance institutions, spread across the country, institutions that finance low-income individuals engaged in economic activities.
JTL’s clients include a wide range of both Large, medium and small MFIs, as well as both urban and rural based Saccos, all providing financial services to low-income individuals. JTL’s, long-term aim is to have a regional and cross sectional presence, by supporting institutions that will help propagate JTL’s mission of enhancing financial access to deserving individuals.
