Meet Nipher Woluyanje Indeche, the Mentor Program Coordinator at St. Elizabeth Girls Morpus whose mission is to transform moments, memories, and the history of a girl child. Nipher, 36 years old, joined the Global Give Back Circle program in 2017 and has since mentored 3 girls who are also beneficiaries of Global Give Back Circle’s Her Lab program. Ms. Indeche comes from Kakamega County, Kenya but for over 10 years now she has been working in West Pokot County, Kenya. She prides herself in her role as a mentor and passion about girls’ education. It has always been her wish to touch the lives of girls especially those at risk. She does this by helping them feel more confident in their abilities in the classroom and actualizing their dreams of education. She is thrilled to be part of Global Give Back Circle and to help coordinate mentorship activities at St Elizabeth Girls Secondary School. In her spare time, Ms. Indeche enjoys reading motivational books and listening to music.

CAROLINE MENACH

‘HER LAB’ CHAMPION
WEST POKOT

Caroline Menach is the Principal of St. Elizabeth Girls’ Secondary School-Morpus and a Coordinator for Margo Day 4 Youth Empowerment-CBO. She is responsible for Curriculum implementation and mentorship of girls at St Elizabeth Girls’ Secondary School. Menach has 20 years of teaching experience and 10 years of mentoring girls at high school and at the HER Lab, based at Morpus, Kipkomo Sub County, West Pokot County. Ms. Menach’s leadership skills have enabled the girls who ran away from retrogressive cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages to find a home at St. Elizabeth Girls’ Secondary School. Her commitment and resilience to see the Pokot girl empowered and giving back to the community has seen over 500 at-risk girls graduate to the HER Lab and get scholarships to various Universities and Colleges.

At MD4YES, Ms. Menach leads a team in identification of needy-vulnerable girls from the community who have excelled in their studies and enrolls them at HER Lab. She leads a team that networks with the Ministry of Education and World Vision in the advocacy of girls’ education and training of girls on Alternative Rites of Passage. She is passionate, committed, and resilient about girl child empowerment through education and skill development for a better tomorrow to the girl child and ultimately a transformed community.

Ms. Menach is a Lion Member of Lions International, a Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF) and a Secretary of Lions Club of Kitale, Patron to Kamorrow Golden Eagles Soccer team, Chairperson at St. Anne’s ACK Church and a Secretary of the Sub-County Principals’ Chapter. She lives in Kapenguria, West Pokot County-Northern Kenya. Her hobbies are studying the Bible, listening to Christian Music, mountain climbing, jogging and adventure travel.

KIBERA GIRLS SOCCER ACADEMY

Claris has served at Kibera Girls’ Soccer Academy as a senior teacher and counselor since 2008. In 2020, she was promoted to being the school principal. She is deeply passionate about changing the life of the girl child through education and hands-on training. She holds a degree in Bachelor of Education and Counseling from Kenya Methodist University. As the school coordinator, she ensures communication between mentors and mentees runs smoothly. She is responsible for facilitating letter exchanges between mentors and mentees, keeping a log of letters, helping in organizing the monthly workshops in school for the girls, and providing monthly report to the Global Give Back Circle. She greatly values the partnership with the Global Give Back Circle as it helps her and the school to empower the girl child and making a difference in their world.

JUDY MISOI

Judy has served as the School Coordinator at Starehe Girls’ Centre in Kenya since 2011. As a teacher at the school, she is passionate about education, particularly the empowerment of the girl child. Judy empowers girls through her role as a teacher and as Assistant Coordinator for the President’s Award Scheme, which brings together youth in Kenya and develops and delivers quality experiential activities that impart positive life skills. Through the program, youth participate in activities like hiking and voluntary service activities at hospitals and children’s homes under her guidance. Judy holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kenyatta University. As the School Coordinator at Starehe Girls’ Centre, she ensures communication between mentors and mentees runs smoothly. She is responsible for facilitating letter exchanges between mentor and mentee, keeping a log of all letters, and provides monthly reports to the Global Give Back Circle. She ensures the privacy of beneficiaries and mentors is always upheld and helps with the coordination of weekend workshops too.

ELIZABETH KENDELI

Elizabeth Kendeli comes from Vihiga County, Kenya. Graduating from Technical University Kenya, with a diploma in Laboratory Sciences, she has been St. Martin’s Girls Secondary School’s Lab Technician for over 23 years as well as a Biology and Chemistry instructor.  Teaching with patience and understanding, Elizabeth developed a passion to support the at-risk adolescent girls during their transition from teenager to adulthood.  She focused on pursuing a certificate in guidance and counseling and became a mentor to some of the students receiving much joy seeing the girl-child educated and empowered.  To her delight, in June 2021, Global Give Back Circle approached Elizabeth to join their Team of Local Champions as a Mentor Program Coordinator.  In this capacity, she ensures that mentees write to and receive letters from their mentor on a regular basis. Guaranteeing privacy of these exchanges, Elizabeth maintains a log of each letter and provides monthly reports to the Team overseeing the Secondary School Mentorship Program. She also assists with the coordination of weekend workshops.  In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys listening to motivational talks, reading inspirational books, and cultivating her kitchen garden.

Darcie Umukundwa Giriwanyu comes from Southern Province, Rwanda. She is a student at the University of Rwanda taking Human Nutrition and Dietetics. An alumina of Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, she graduated in 2017. While in High School, Darcie nurtured her leadership skills through various roles such as student facilitator, Vice President of the agriculture club, and Under Eighteen Children representative in the Rwanda National Children’s Council. Darcie worked for Arise Education Rwanda as a project manager for a teen program called ‘LitTeens’ in 2020-2021.

In August 2021, Darcie joined the Global Give Back Circle Team of Local Champions as a Mentor Program Coordinator at Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology. In this capacity, she ensures that mentees write to and receive letters from their mentors regularly. Assuring privacy of these exchanges, Darcie maintains a log of each letter and provides monthly reports to the Team overseeing the Secondary School Mentorship Program. She also assists with the coordination of weekend workshops. In her free time, Darcie enjoys travelling, listening to music, and reading.

Darcie aspires to be a nutritionist and global health leader.
